dat was verwijk...

deze heb ik overgenomen uit de FAQ, aangezien michel daar ook al aangaf dat zij ermee waren gestopt en dat dit bedrijf de werkzaamheden hadden overgenomen..

The mazda ecus have ranges, so what are ranges?? basically the maximum and the minimum for a specific variable. For example, For air intake the volume value is -1 and +3, (on a standard config) This is the settting Mazda has given that particular ecu. The ecu will only read up to those numbers. But if you looked in the menu for that value you will actually see that the range goes from -5 to +5. A standard air filter will only allow so much air to pass through it, but when we install a Tuning filter, the engine receives a lot more air than the ecu knows what to do with, because its maxed at +3. Companies like Werwij look at the settings (standard) and the modify them in order to match what your car has now installed, so they will crank the max up to +5, this way the ecu will now accept all the extra air. This does not only apply to air intake but to a lot of othere parameters. Once the car is ranged, it will usually take around 3 days of driving before the ecu learns all its new ranges and makes the correct calculations according to the figures. Once this is done then you will have to go back, so that they can take a look at the new settings and see if the ecus needs more tweaking.

Is it worth it???? if you have modified, air, exhaust and fuel then yes, otherwise you will not receive any benefit and even then its not something that you think, Damm!! what a difference. Its just a way to acchieve optimal fine tuning with the goodies you have installed.

Thank you very much for that clear answer! So this means that if I install a new air filter, manifold and Power Boost Valve that it is recommended to change the ranges?

Ja, als je dat doet kan je de ranges aan laten passen.

Denk er wel aan dat dit voor een groot gedeelte Finetunen is ;)

@woytek. If youre going to tune, then you got to do it right. Its no point in buying all the goodies if your engine cant use them to 100%.
Start with Air in (filter + Intake Tube + lots of cold air) Then go for the Gas out (Down pipes + Kat replacer with silencer + Mid silencer + Tail end)
By the time you have done all this your engine will need just a touch more fuel, so a Good Boost valve (like Scary's) will be enough. If thats about all youre going to do the engine, then its time to Range. Always do this last, Otherwise you will have to go back after a big change.

That's exactly my plan, although I'm not sure about the kat-replacer. I don't know how much trouble it is to replace it for the APK? Thank you for your help, I don't want a 300 pk monster, I just want to make sure the engine runs just that little bit better with maybe a little more power.
